What to Expect
Scheduling Your First Appointment
As a new acne client, you can select either a consultation with treatment, or a consultation only, as you prefer.
Consultation
We will go over your medical history and lifestyle questionnaire together, and will look at your skin. The goal is to get a comprehensive picture of what is going on, so we can decide what approach to take for your individual skin and life. We will make recommendations for a treatment plan and home care routine.
Treatment
I will cleanse your skin, then I will give you dark goggles so I can look at your skin under a bright light and magnifying lens. I will do a preliminary steam and/or exfoliation to soften the debris in the pores, and then I will do extractions with the goggles, bright light, and magnifying lens. This can be uncomfortable, but it really helps your skin to clear more quickly. I will always check in with you as we go along to see how you are doing, and I will judge how many extractions we do based on your comfort and tolerance. Once extractions are complete, we will calm your skin down with a calming mask and cold rollers, followed by LED treatment. If your skin is ready, we finish with a gentle chemical peel, though I may not do this the first treatment if your skin is not yet ready for it. The goal for the first treatment is to gently begin clearing your acne and get you started on a home care regimen.
Aftercare
I will give you aftercare instructions specific to your treatment, but generally speaking, you will not wash your face that evening. Always wear sunscreen every day, as exfoliating treatments make your skin more sensitive to the sun.
Home Care Regimen
I will make recommendations for a Face Reality skincare regimen to use at home to clear and nourish your skin. This is the biggest part of clearing acne. It’s like brushing your teeth every day to keep them healthy - while seeing the dentist is important, the your tooth care daily routine is the most important and impactful. If you can only pick one, pick home care over regular treatments. You can expect to spend about $150-200 on the initial set of products for home care.
Continuing Treatment
I recommend you come in for a follow-up treatment every 2 weeks for extractions and a chemical peel. We will also see how your home care routine is going, and make any adjustments necessary. Please text me at any time in between appointments if you have any questions, any problems with your skin, or need to stop by and get more product. (And please, I would much rather you ask me a question than look for an answer on TikTok or whatever. You’re not bothering me. I promise.)
I am here for you. We go through this process together.
